Spring Maintenance

Mesh safety covers on pools have many advantages but there is one disadvantage. It allows a certain amount of sunlight into the pool. The combination of sunlight and warmer temperatures will encourage the growth of algae in the water. A pool should be treated with algaecide and chlorine or bromine when winterized in the fall. That is to maintain the water quality for the few warm months until winter temperatures arrives so algae cannot grow. Those chemicals have been used up by now. It is necessary in about mid-March to add more chemicals to maintain your water for the warmer days ahead until you are ready to summerize your pool. Also if the level of your pool water has risen due to rain or snow to a point where it shows on top of the cover, it will catch leaves and other materials that enhance the growth of algae in the water. The water should be pumped down enough to allow the cover to ride free in the air and allow the leaves to blow off. Also if the water level rises and freezes it may result in damage to the tile. It is important that this spring maintenance be done so that you do not end up with a big and expensive clean-up job or possibly having to drain the pool when it is time to summerize. We can do this spring maintenance for you if you wish. If you would like to have us do this maintenance, please feel free to call us at (610) 527-5276 or fax us at (610) 527-4307 before the end of March.
